			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Afternoon Tea is an art and should be an extraordinary experience one that you will cherish. Vancouver has some wonderful places for you to indulge in an Afternoon Tea experience. Each of the places is unique in what they offer along with the type of service and selection of sandwiches, pastries and desserts. I am on a journey around the city to find these extraordinary places.</p>
<p>Here is the ninth of many places that I have visited recently. <strong><strong>The Fish House</strong></strong> <strong><strong>is</strong></strong><strong><strong> </strong></strong>located in Stanley Park in Vancouver.</p>

<p>You will want to make sure that you make an advance reservation as they often fill up in advance, bring along a friend or two or three to join you in the experience.</p>

<p>I had their <strong><strong>Afternoon Tea service</strong></strong> for $24.00 per person. First off, I chose my tea of choice from their selection of teas, I chose the “Pear Green Tea” and my friend Alisha had the “Yin Yang Tea”.</p>

<p>A three tiered plate arrived to the table, we worked our way from the top plate to the bottom, the top layer had homemade organic Currant Scones served with Devonshire cream and jam along with some strawberry slices. The middle layer had an assortment of sandwiches that included Cucumber and Cream Cheese, Smoked Salmon with honey mustard and Egg salad pinwheels. The bottom layer featured Classic Crème Brulee, Banana Bread, Lemon Tarts, Chocolate Mint cookie with white chocolate centre, and Pistachio Biscotti.</p>

<p><strong><strong>My thoughts </strong></strong>–The service was very friendly, our server Holly was wonderful and this made for a delightful afternoon tea experience. The restaurant had an incredible view of Stanley Park and the water and we felt like being in a countrylike home. From the assortment of sandwiches I liked the Smoked Salmon with honey mustard, the scones were moist, delicious and flakey, the Lemon Tarts topped with meringue crisp were the best Lemon Tarts that I have had in my Afternoon Tea series. The Teas are from T in Vancouver.</p>

<p>The Teahouse had always been one of my families favourite restaurants, I heard that Executive Chef Francois Gagnon had taken over at The Teahouse and we thought we must visit and taste his new menu. We sat in one of their elegant rooms close to the window that overlooked the water and the nightlights, my dining companion and I shared the Beet &amp; Goat Cheese Salad ($12.50) a colorful and tasty salad with a paprika, herb and plain goat cheese with wild arugula and crunchy walnuts; the delightful Stuffed Portabellini Mushroom ($10) stuffed with crab, shrimp &amp; mascarpone.</p>

<p>For our entrees I had the AAA Rib Eye ($38) perfectly well done steak and in a red wine and black pepper demi glaze topped with fingerling potatoes &amp; wild mushrooms; my dining companion had the Qualicum Beach Scallops ($28) served on a bed of leek &amp; chanterelle risotto. To end our delicious meal we shared the Molten Chocolate Cake ($8) which was filled with warm Grand Marnier ganache with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side; and the Brown Butter &amp; Almond Torte ($8) with crème fraiche on the side on a bed of strawberry jam.</p>

<p>We were truly impressed by the service as well as our server John Ferrie who has been in the business of serving customers for many years. Chef Francois has quite an extensive background in French Canadian cooking and his new menu is one that should be tasted, bring your friends and enjoy this great escape, just outside of the busy downtown area in Stanley Park.</p>
