Advice: Watch for their daily Croissant specials.

Specializing in Croissants, Footo “Fresh out of the Oven” makes just that plain and filled croissants all day long! Owner Brenda Yip learned her craft at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver where she studied pastry. The open kitchen allows for all to see the Croissants going in and out of the oven, you will also find house-baked macarons, everything is made using natural ingredients and having no artificial flavours, preservatives or chemical additives. The menu also features Croissant sandwiches, along with desserts that include panna cotta, tiramisu, chocolate and fruit mousse, strawberry tuxedos and frozen yogurt.

Almond Croissant

Cheese Croissant

Macarons

I had a tasty Almond Croissant ($3.25) as well as a Cheese Croissant ($3.25) filled with mozzarella and Cheddar. I also tried their Macarons ($3.25 for a 4 pack) and had a Lemonade ($2.50)

Their menu also features 5 kinds of hot chocolate which will be the favourite go to drink once the dark and cool days begin.

Orange Spice

Orange Spice

Located within the city’s reach is a gem that is worth your discovery, Moja Coffee a roaster and café in a quiet business area with no walk by traffic only customers who are serious and passionate about their coffee. The décor is super clean, simple with white walls, a wooden espresso bar that showcases their espresso machine “Victoria Arduino” which is one of the finest espresso machines around, a handmade 3 group lever espresso machine. Great selection of industry magazines to read and enhance your coffee education experience.   I usually have an Espresso Macchiato which is so smooth and delicious, this time I had their Orange Spice. The espresso here is their own custom roast which is only available here in their café, you can’t get it anywhere else, so I suggest you visit as soon as you can. The Baristas are perfectionists and it shows here, true passion. They feature a variety of Thomas Haas pastries including his croissants which are baked on site fresh daily.

Chocolate Almond Croissant

Chocolate Almond Croissant

If you love a great loaf of bread and croissants this is the place to go. One of my friends had been nudging me to visit this French Canadian bakery and I was quite impressed. I had the Chocolate Almond Croissant ($3.25) which was filled with moist almond and delicious chocolate, topped with almonds and icing sugar, they also have a version without chocolate for ($3.05). I got a loaf of their Multigrain bread to go and it was one of the best that I have had. Everything including the croissants, breads, pastries and desserts are baked in the very large bakery behind the counter where you can see the bakers hard at work. The pastry case is filled with tempting pastries, there is some seating out front. Drop by early for an almond croissant and a 49th Parallel latte !
