Dark Hot Chocolate

Chocolates and Truffles

As a chocolate enthusiast, I am always searching out chocolate indulgences and recently visited this world renowned chocolatier café. I had their delicious signature Dark Hot Chocolate as well as a selection of chocolates and truffles that included the Buche Massepain Pistache Dark — Dark chocolate, pistachio flavour marzipan; Truffe Champagne – White and milk chocolate ganache with real champagne, coated in white chocolate powder; Truffe Noisette – Milk chocolate ganache with chopped hazelnuts, coated in hazelnut powder; Manon Café Fondant – Dark chocolate praliné with coffee butter cream and a whole hazelnut; Louise White – White chocolate praliné with caramelised nuts and the Giamanda – The creamy smooth Gianduja from Leonidas flavoured with chopped California almonds.

For chocoholics you will find chocolate beverages as well as chocolates and truffles flown in fresh from Leonidas in Belgium, you will also find pastry creations made locally specifically for them.

The café is off the beaten path but well worth your discovery when you are looking to escape for a chocolate indulgence!

Advice: Come by after 11am daily for the fresh baked from the oven Almond and other Croissants.

Almond Croissant

Known for their pastries and spectacular wedding cakes, they are also a morning stop for many regulars who visit for their croissants as well as a coffee or other sweet specialties. I have had their outstanding delicious Almond Croissants ($3.25) as well as their delicious Pain au Chocolat ($3.00), a fellow by the name of Gaston swears by these pastries and he had suggested that I visit and that I did. The pastry case is filled with beautiful looking cakes, cheesecakes and pastries that range in price. They also have a variety of treats packaged on the side to go in this Parisian-style patisserie. There are seats inside as well where you can order an espresso or other beverage to accompany your sweets.

LaBageute La Baguete3

I have been coming to this bakery to pick up my bread for years, the bakery has been on Granville Island opposite the market for so many years. As you enter the smell of freshly baked bread fills the air, they often have samples of their breads and pastries for tasting. My favourite of the breads is the Multigrain ($4.25), other delicious items here are the Almond Chocolate Crossants ($3.50) filled with almond cream, chocolate and roasted sliced almonds and the Almond Bear Claw Danish ($3.50) a light Danish pastry filled with almond custard topped with powdered sugar. They feature a daily selection of freshly made sandwiches, my favourite is the Vegetarian ($6.95) and they specialize in French pastries and cakes that uniquely made and spectacles for enjoyment.
